Show Jumping Report for 2019 Season by Amanda Barker, Team Manager
It’s been a busy year for our show jumping squad. We started off on a very windy March day at the Wyre Forest team event at Kings. We had many palings – making me optimistic for the year ahead.
Next up was the Dengie 2nd Round at Marchington for those lucky enough to qualify over the winter. Megan Caine & Holly Bailey qualified for the Pony Club National Dengie Final in April at Addington – where Holy came third. An amazing achievement!
In May we all left home at 4 am to attend Chatsworth International Horse Trials. It was a fabulous opportunity for our 80 & 100cm teams to compete at such a wonderful venue. Needless to say, we all had an amazing time.
Next up – Rockingham International. Another early start for our 70, 80 & 90cm teams, who all made it onto the podium – making one very happy Team Manager. We are so lucky that we are given the opportunity for all our members to come and experience the unique atmosphere of such big events.
In June our Area teams travelled to Solihull for the Area 7 Qualifiers – held over two days. Our teams rode superbly and just missed out on qualifying. Holly Bailey riding Patch and Ottilie Salwey on Dunny One, both qualified individually for the championships.
Onto the Gatcombe Festival of Eventing. Our 1m Team of Holly Needham, Tamsin Hallet & Megan Caine rode in the main arena and came 3rd – our best placing so far and a very proud moment.
The following day our 80 & 90cm squad came to compete and we had the honour of representing our Branch in the Pony Club 90th Birthday Parade – and our team got to speak to Princess Anne. It was such a wonderful atmosphere and a truly magical Pony Club memory for all involved.
Later on that Summer, we took teams to Puddleston Show for the first time – a great success and we hope to be taking more next year.
Our own King’s Showjumping in November was very well attended, and we had a hectic two days competing with some success against many pony Clubs from Area 7 & 9.
Next year I am hoping to attend all these events again. So, if you would like to take part, please look out for my notifications on our Facebook page asking for team members.
We have lots of training coming up and I hope to see you there.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
