Tetrathlon Report for 2019 Season by Ann Bailey, Team Manager
This year has flown by and yet again it has been a fun-packed one for all our Tetrathletes. Members aged 4 to 18 years old have all had a go this year, with teams representing us at competitions hosted by the Cotswold Hunt, The Cotswold Vale, The Ledbury, The Curre, South Hereford & Ross Harriers and The North Shropshire to name a few.
The Area 7 Triathlon Qualifier took place at Much Wenlock, in February, with 6 of our members – Poppy May, Charlie Brown, Thomas Brown, Lucinda Evans, Tilly Evans & John Griffiths – qualifying for the Championships in Milton Keynes. There Charlie Brown went on to be placed 4th in the Intermediate Boys and Tom Brown 3rd in the Junior Boys.
In June we had 2 of our members – Matilda Wall & Thomas Brown – selected to represent Central England in the Junior International Tetrathlon. Thomas was also selected to represent them and have the honour to ride for the England Team at the Royal Windsor Show, where he came 5th individually.
July came and off we went to the Area 7 Tetrathlon at Ettingham hosted by the Warwickshire PC. Four of our members – Poppy May, Thomas Brown, Tilly Evans & Matilda Wall – qualified for Champs at Offchurch, where they camped out for 4 days to compete in all 4 phases and most importantly go to the 1920s theme party! The wet & windy weather did not dampen their spirits or affect their performance – Thomas Brown came 6th in the Junior Boys and Poppy May came 15th in the Intermediate Girls.
These are just some of the highlights of our year, not forgetting the successes of our other teammates, who vary in ability and age and have achieved their own personal goals throughout the year. Tetrathlons are great fun with lots of team spirit. Great friendships are made with younger & older members all supporting each other.
As usual a huge thank you to all the members, parents, grandparents, aunties and instructors that help make our year such a success and most importantly fun!
